Actually, any of the sherry wines would work fine. For this recipe, you could also substitute it with apple cider vinegar :)

Thank you Lila. When I checked the Regina brand here in London there is no available product what are the other alternative instead of sherry? A lot of sherry wine but I’m not sure which is the one for right in cooking.

AsianCookingmadeEasy October 19, 2009 at 1:38 am

Hi -Yes, sherry is a cooking wine and I usually use “Regina” brand :)

8metsys October 19, 2009 at 1:38 am

Hi Lila, I’m gonna ask again about the sherry? Its a plenty of sherry and what kind of sherry did you use? Is that wine and what brand?

I have been looking for a spicy, but sweet recipe for chicken wings for a while, and your whole technique on preparation and cooking seems to be very easy. The only thing I don’t have is a wok, but have a few really good pieces of cookware that i think may be suitable for this recipe. You made it really easy to understand, and I think my cousin will love her chicken wings that i will be taking to her birthday party this weekend. I look forward to making this on Saturday. Thank you!!

My recipes are a mix of Cantonese, Mandarin, and American based.

You don’t have to use a wok, but depending on the dish, it is sometimes easier. If you are just starting to cook Chinese, you can simply use a large non stick pot :)

The wok that I use is a non stick flat bottom wok – I really don’t remember how much it cost – I’ve had it for a while now. But these days you can find a good wok for under $40 :)

Thanks for the vids, 2 questions: Are your recipes Cantonese? Do I have to use a wok, if yes, then what is the price range for a good wok?
