@Tunnelfish I’ve read somewhere that people can make them in the oven on low setting. Some even leave a little crack open to lower the temp.

I live in an apartment and can’t barbecue. :P So if I do this in an electric stove, need I open the door every now and then to allow moisture to escape?

if you cut it half frozen its much nicer to cut and slices thinner!

You’re suggestions on using deer? I have had deer jerky before. But never made it myself. PS almost all recipes I have seen involved, as posted before, Jack Daniels. Not saying it is wrong, but is it, or any alcoholic liquor needed?

Not saying I am going to try jerky with 3 Olives grape….

Very good outline- I added some honey to my marinade, and had it at around 150 on my Big Green Egg for 5 hours and it was fantastic! Thanks so much!

Thank you, BBQ pit boys. I feel manlier after watching this. Beef jerky is much better over the woodsmoke and next to the coals than in a dehydrator.

using your hands makes food better if you take your time… like hamburgers

hixy65 December 21, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I use a food dehydrator. and I avoid garlic, as I find it too overpowering.
