ShowMeTheCurry February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

Yes, but it will take considerably longer to cook.

cottoncandycocoon February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

Can you do this without a pressure cooker?

Asafoetida? It is a super pungent spice that is used very sparingly. It has a pretty unique flavor and is known to reduce the effects of gas in beans. However, if you don’t have it, you can leave it out.

What is that A-something you said? Is it needed for the recipe?

rekkhabusy February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

YES, you are right, MR.RAWHEBREW needs to visit ENT specialist. not his speaker problem, not a network problem.

MapleStoryShowsLive February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

somethings wrong with your speakers try taking it to a repair shop or something

ShowMeTheCurry February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

You don’t need to ask, the essence and fun of cooking is experimenting! Try it!
Cheers

Thanks! That sounds like a great idea if you need a meal fast.

Curry leaves would taste great in this soup. Btw…we grow curry plants as well (in a pot) so that we can bring them in the house, or garage, for the winter when they are dormant. They are sure to come back the next year.

tekobari February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

Great spicing. I’d like to add a curry leaf. What do you think, ladies? I’m growing curry plants here and have my fingers crossed they’ll survive the mild winter.

Great recipe. I make this using Progresso’s Lentil Soup instead of pressure cooking lentils from scratch. It makes for a quick lunch or dinner. The method is almost identical to what was done in this video. You would need to begin with step 3 in the method posted on the website. Do all of them the same way until step 8. Add in the soup, with liquid and stir. Then follow the steps after that the same way. Just boil for a minute or two longer, or as necessary. Usually no more than 5 minutes.

thanks!

If you have soaked the lentils, they cook relatively fast (compared to other beans like kidney or garbanzo). A good estimate would be approx 2-3 mins per whistle. You may have to experiment with your cooker. You can always close it up again and re-cook if they have not cooked well.

kimiK77 February 9, 2010 at 12:52 am

Hi! How long did you cook the lentils in the pressure cooker? My pressure cooker does not have a whistle.
Soup looks great!
